Collecting dues, particularly fraternity dues, is among the hardest and most frustrating tasks for organization leaders. Small and intimate organizations do not lend themselves to efficient business practices. Yet your organization depends on properly collecting dues. This guide provides some best practices, but your best weapon will always be tact.

Collectively set your budget. Every paying member of your organization has the right to know where those monies are going. Moreover, by understanding their benefit from the budget, they will be more likely to pay.

Set your budget early. Give everyone enough notice to either earn or raise the cost of dues. This will anticipate and prevent excuses like, “if I had only known, I wouldn’t have gone to Vegas.”

Mandate payment early. For fraternities and other college organizations, collect within the first week of classes, when everyone is still flush with summer cash. Make it clear that your organization is a financial priority.

Schedule your overhead costs first. Insurance policies, dues to your national, rent on your house, and other costs should come first. This is good business, because in the real world, creditors are not shy about getting the law involved. This (often terrifying) reality will also motivate your members to pay quickly.

Collect as much as you can quickly as possible. Set payment plans for everyone who doesn’t pay in full. Everyone must pay something; everyone must have a plan for paying in full.

If there are members who refuse to make any payment at all, begin appropriate measures (see below notes for examples).

If your measures fail, consider either a collection agency or disbarring the member. Make no mistake, farming out your dues collection can range from awkward to hurtful in a small organization. Worse, losing a member because he or she refuses to pay dues is very, very stupid reason. Both your organization and the member should be able to compromise. But if you cannot, the health of your organization and your ability to collect future dues depends on your acting firmly.

Finding an academic internship in college can be a worthwhile experience that can not only help your college career, but it can help you get a job in your chosen field once you graduate. If you are currently looking for an academic internship, here are some helpful tips to remember when looking.

Meet with your college counselor and complete the appropriate forms needed for an academic internship. Your counselor will probably have a list of companies that students can apply to for academic internships. Do not limit your options to only those listed.

Search the Internet for possible internship openings that you would be interested in. Ask your counselor, parents and professors for any recommendations. Look outside of your college area for summer internships.

Set up interviews with prospective internship employers when they are visiting your campus.

Research the company and write a resume before interviewing. Use this face-to-face meeting to get a better sense of the company and job duties, and show off your qualifications.

Work with a counselor or faculty sponsor to evaluate what academic components are needed in order to receive college credit for your internship. You may need to complete a final paper or mid-term evaluation to receive college credit.

Attend any pre-internship meetings that your university or employer recommends. If you are unable to attend, make sure they know why.

There are several methods for cleaning out your inbox. Most email programs will let you sort your email in different ways. Often there is a link or word, like “sent”, “date”, or “size” at the top of your email you can click on to sort the column.

In my opinion, the best place to start is with the size. One deleted email with a 5MB attachment will clear more space on the email server than 1000 emails with text like “ok thanks” and no attachments. If you do not see an option for sorting by “size” then click on any “view” toolbar options within your email program to see if you can add that category. For size, anything marked with just a “b” after it is the smallest, then items with “kb” are bigger, and items with “MB” are the largest.

Determine which large items you can afford to delete. These days, a lot of people are concerned with “C-Y-A” or “C-Y-B”. Often you can save that 5MB attachment to the company file server and then delete the corresponding email. An individual file on the file server can be restored more easily by your I.T. department if the file were to get corrupted. If they had to restore your entire mailbox it would e a more involved task.

Next, sort your email by sender. This will group all the emails together by the senders’ names. This can be good because you may come across blocks of email sent by someone who is no longer with the company and you may not need to keep their emails for “C-Y-A” purposes. Also, look out for emails from departments like HR, I.T., and Facilities. You’d be surprised how many emails you will find from over a year ago saying things like “The email server will be down this weekend”, “Holiday list, 2005″, and “toilets on the 3rd floor are now working again.” Just TRY to convince someone of why you still need these in your inbox.

Look for continuous strings of emails to delete. A lot of emails are continuous replies as two people three cubicles away from each other have a conversation via email. Many email systems keep a copy of the previous email text at the bottom of the reply. You can check to be sure your email system does this but a lot of them do. If you need to keep an email string for “C-Y-A” then you could just keep the last one, which includes all the text from the earlier part of the conversation, and delete the others.

Finally, if you have looked through all your emails and truthfully determined you can’t delete any more then ask your I.T. department, or check your email software’s help feature, for instructions on how to export your email to something like a PST file. This will export a copy of your emails to a file you can then save to the file server.

Internet Explorer has a tool to block websites containing sexually explicit and violent material for adults that is based on a rating system. Although you do not have a total effectiveness this is a free option and available to everyone. To activate:

Open Internet Explorer and go to Menu, Tools, Internet Options. In the Internet Options window click the Content tab. In the Content Advisor, click on the Enable button. In the new window called Content Advisor selects the classification table. It shows a table with different types of adult content (Nudity, Language, Sex and Violence).

Select one of these categories, adjust the type of content that users can see on your PC and slide the bar that is below the table towards the level of permission you want to define. Repeat this operation with each of the categories and, when finished, click OK on the option.

To create a password so no one will change these security features without your permission, select the General tab in the window Adviser content. There, click the Password button. A small window to write-irmes and password. Once you press OK, and the Adviser content again OK.

You have a license and you know the rules of the road but how many of us follow them all each and every time we sit down behind the wheel? Straying from these guidelines is what causes accidents and there are steps that we can take to ensure if there is an accident it then you’re not at fault.

Don’t speed – Even when others tear up the pavement and burn right by you; resist the urge to speed.

Let them go ahead – Stay to the slow lane and allow faster cars to pass you by.

Check the weather – Plan your trips out ahead of time. If you do have to drive try to leave early so that you will be ahead of the storm. If you do get caught in the storm slow down. Stay on the protected side of the road; this is the curb side or the side with the shallowest ditch.

Seatbelt safety – Always wear a seatbelt. Your children learn by watching. Show them that you do care.

Never mix cars and alcohol – Don’t drive if you have been drinking or allow others to drive after drinking. You may not be over the legal limit but is it really worth finding out?

Outfit your car – Check fluids and lights often to ensure they are in full working order. It is not a bad idea to carry a jug of water, some extra oil, and a road side safety kit.

Keep a safe distance – There is enough room on the road for many cars. You don’t have to be close to the car in front of you to know that they are there. Count 1,1000,2,1000 as the car in front of you passes a telephone pole or other object until you pass it. You should leave at least one to two car lengths between you and them to allow you time to react if you need to change lanes or stop. The counting is how many seconds you would have to react to something. If you need more time to react then leave more space.

Use the eyes in the back of your head – This is not just a phrase for mothers. Your eyes should be moving from mirror to mirror in your car. You should always have at least two outs out of the place where you are at. This maybe restricted to the other lane and the ditch if it is a narrow road but you should still take inventory of them incase. It is easier to drive a car back out of ditch when you plan where to go in. Stay away from concrete, telephone poles, drainage pipes, and transformers. You have one option up and out if anything is in the way it could damage your car further.

Don’t be a jerk – There is no need to do things to aggravate other drivers. It just makes your driving less enjoyable for all. Keep your lights dim while driving over hills at night. Do not pass only to hurry and stop to turn. Use your turn signals that is what they were installed for.

Avoid distractions – We all work and play far too hard. Try to focus on driving while driving. You will have time to put your makeup on, finish lunch, and talk on your cell phone later. Keep your music at a reasonable level so that you can hear emergency vehicles that maybe nearby. It could be your family in the ambulance some day so pull off the road like it personally counts to you and let them by. Find something to entertain your children in the car so they don’t take your attention from where it should be. If all else fails one short blast of the radio on high will quiet them immediately and should not distract you because you’re the one causing it.

Many of us go through our lives doing a job that we perhaps do not hate completely, but one that does not fulfill our ultimate goals or provide an outlet for our creativity. There are many reasons why you get stuck in whatever profession you’re in. Maybe you studied Law and became a lawyer only to find that in mid-life you were merely providing a paycheck for your family – but not really filling your inner need for growth and personal enrichment. Or perhaps you are many of the support personnel that found a “safe” job under the corporate umbrella. It was a fine job providing good benefits and a steady paycheck while the kids were young, or while your spouse was finishing up graduate school, but maybe – lately, you’ve come to realize that during all the struggle someone was lost in the process over the years, YOU! Well baby it’s time. Read my article and get on your way to doing something you love or enjoy. Gone are days when you must stick to the career path you set out on. Maybe you want to pick up some of those old dreams and find a little something for yourself in the process!

What do you want to do? This is the first question you must ask yourself. Many things may have changed since you first had an idea for a career. If you were thing you’d become an expert at WANG software..it’s time to revisit your dream. Do the research. Figure out what kind of career you’d like.

Make a plan. After you figure out what it is you want to do. Create the plan. BE as creative you like. Write it down. Are you going to go to school? Are you going to take some classes? Are there books you need to read? What kind of preparation will you require in order to do the job? Don’t skip any steps. It’s important to know all the perameters before you set forth on your path.

Give yourself a reality check. Realize your own limitations. Nothing is more embarrassing than going beyond your prime. For example, there was a very rich woman who decided late in life to become a ballerina. She used her money, power and influence to assemble some of the world’s best dancers to train her. She bought theatres to perform in and worked day and night. But she was in her fifties, and no matter how good she became, she’d never be the 16 year old prima ballerina. They laughed behind her back as the swallowed up her money. It’s a very sad story. The arts may have benefited from her donations, but she lost out in the end. Do yourself a favor, don’t be the poster child for a dream that requires youth, vim and vigor. Choose a path you can follow. Do not set yourself up to fail. A good example could be an accountant who has always wanted to run their own flower shop. With enough planning and prepartion, this is a feat that can be accomplished. Another dream might be to own your own business. This requires hard work, but can be done, if it’s in a field you know something about and you are willing to do the homework.

What are you willing to sacrifice? This is a hard question. I know many people who are working as administrative assistants and making excellent money. They live in fine homes and some even own a few investment properties. Sometimes in order to gain something, we must give up something. For some of us, it means a healthy paycheck. But as one philosopher once said, “you can not put a price on happiness.” If you are going home from work miserable every night and dreading going in to the office every day, it might be a sacrifice you are willing to risk. An unhappy life can lead to an early death – and then who prospers from it, your off-spring, your relatives? Now is the time for you! So figure out if you can cut your costs, or whatever this present job brings in order to do something for yourself.

Once the plan is in place-step outside your box and begin! You’ve done the homework, figured out how to manage on your income, housing, whatever. You know which kind of education to take. Now is the time to begin your plan. It could start with something as simple as one night course a week. In this way you could keep your “day job” and still pursue your dream job. Stay away from abandoning everything all at once. It may prove to be to great a shock to your system. Take it slow -take baby steps. You can add momentum as you go along. If your dream is to become a night club singer, there is no reason why you can’t work it into your schedule, by maybe taking some voice lessons practicing and turning off the television and pehaps starting at a karaoke club in order to getyour confidence up. Television robs many of us of our dreams. If you have a dream in your head to change your career, keep it set out in front of you and work until you drop to get it. The secret to fulfilling your dream and becoming a success is this, “you have to want it badly enough.” Work hard and follow your plan.

It’s your time to shine!

Mother always told me that it is just as easy to fall in love with a person of means, as it is to with someone from the bourgeoise, but what mother didn’t tell me was that, in order to meet them, I have to go where they are

Practically every one of my poorer artist friends is ever so often joking that they maybe should just “give up” waitressing, or working as a shoe shine boy or out and out begging, or playing music on the streets of Manhattan or doing mime, or temping or any of the myriad of things we artists in New York have to do to pay the rent and just Marry a millionaire! It wouldn’t be the first time that the marriage between a person of the arts and a ..shall we say, benefactor actually occurred. While I don’t think any one of them were serious about marrying Cecil B. De Mille types or the like – the idea can be very appealing. I have had the opportunity not once, but quite a few times to marry that millionaire/billionaire who wanted me..thought I’d complete their life, and if not for my small town upbringing and scruples and out and out stupidity! I might have been able to go for it! But alas, I wouldn’t be writing you now, having to deal with my minions and whatever pet project I happen to be on it..but no good millionairal proposal (if there’s such an expression) lasts for ever, and even the best of them sour like a Hilton incarceration. But the point I am trying to make here is that, if it couldn’t happen for me, and not that I don’t possess that certain je ne sais pas that gets them going, it could happen for you. In this article I should like to tell you how to do this. After reading it, I’d appreciate your comments…and if you do marry, please keep my aspiring novel “Seven Murders In Sussex” in mind, thanks. And here we go, brace yourselves…
FIRST: Determine. One of the very first questions you must answer is, “what kind of millionaire are you interested in? Is it someone in Finance? Are they self-made? Or do they come from, what I like to call, “old money.” This group is my particular favorite, because they tend to have all the money in the world, and seemingly no notion of how they got it, having been born into it and all that jazz. Once you determine who/what kind they are then we can get to the next question…

SECOND: Appearance. Your personal appearance is very important. While it’s not possible for everyone on the planet to look like Marilyn Monroe, or some Hollywood starlet..we must always do our best to try to look good. Now you might have some notion of what you’d have to look like to meet and marry the very very very rich..but let me tell you darlings, put away the faux diamonique and the updo sweeps with rhinestones galore and shy away from those gold lamai cha cha culottes or that prom dress or tux you never got to wear..remember this old adage, “less is more.” I personally think that clean is best. You want to be simple. For men this could mean khakis, a white button down shirt, woven belt, and loafers, for the ladies this could mean a simple shirt dress from l.l. bean or the like, or just a nice cotton floral, nothing too showy, nothing flashy. Remember, it’s not about standing out in the crowd. Quite possibly it is exactly the opposite. But we’ll get to that later. If you have one small piece of nice jewelry or a smart watch, you might like to wear that. Small pearl earrings perhaps might fit the bill, or a good copy of a rolex watch or a small pin that has more significance to your family (perhaps an heirloom) and less about show. This is very important. You can’t catch one if they think you are in pursuit of them for money alone. And I know, you’re thinking, “but without love?” But how can you know if you’ll fall in love with them if you haven’t even met them yet. And let’s face it, the largest denominators in failed marriages these days, meaning the number one reason why couples break up is..you guessed it, money, or lack of it. You don’t have to believe me, you can check it out for yourself. What I’m saying is, don’t pre-judge how a relationship will go just because someone has a hundred or so million. It isn’t right. Everyone deserves a chance, even the very rich.

THIRD: Location. You can’t meet the guy/gal if you aren’t where they are. Now you’re thinking, where do I meet them? Well this will require research. I’m probably going to get into a lot of trouble for telling you this, and letting this particular cat out of the bag, but…every library in the United States can get a copy of The Social Register. In this book is listed the names of people on the register who for the most part are, to put it bluntly, stinking rich. Of course you can also find out who they are through your own means, even the internet. Or if you’d just like a grab bag of millionaires, you could attend any number of art auctions..you could go to some estate sales, you could go to boat shows, whale watching..anything that might interest your perspective. I never tire of art galleries or tennis matches. This is where they are. I’ve even gone to a dog show or two in Tarrytown, or the flea markets of East Hampton, or the shore line, in New Jersey Long Beach Island is famous for harboring the rich. Once you have a good sized list of places where you might find “the one” the next step is meeting them.

n this day and age, it is becoming increasingly easier to get a virus or malicious spyware on your computer. This can cause massive slowdown in day to day applications, and can even crash your hard drive. Here are ways to avoid these potential disasters.

With your email, block file types that have no relevance for you. For example, if you generally just get chain letters from family and text emails, you should block file types such as COM, CHM, BAT, etc. The question to ask is, why NOT filter them out? It can only help you.

Never open an .EXE file from an email. 99.9% of the time, it will be a virus, keylogger, trojan, or some other type of malicious backdoor software. Why? When would you or someone else ever need to email an .EXE file, which is the file type for programs? The only thing that pops into my head is virus — wouldn’t you agree?

Never open an .EXE file you’ve downloaded from the Web, unless you got it from a website that you absolutely trust. For example, there isn’t a high chance of getting a virus from an executive file hosted by and found on the front page or Files database of the Microsoft homepage. However, going to someone’s personal homepage and downloading a freeware version of Super Mario Bros. could net you a virus easily.

Stay up to date, and stay informed. These are the two most important phrases in personal security on the Web. Stay up to date by downloading the latest Windows updates, and keeping your firewall and antivirus programs up to date. Also, stay informed on the latest virus threats so you know what to watch out for. Don’t go out of your day to do it, but if you see on MSN.com an article on the latest worm virus through email attachments, give it a look!

Back up your data regularly. You’ll be happy to know that your Adobe Photoshop program, all your Microsoft Word files, and your Excel spreadsheets are safe and sound.

Don’t put passwords, credit card numbers, or private information in a text file on your desktop in a “hidden” folder. With a trojan, there is no such thing as a hidden folder. You may end up the victim of identity theft.

To be safe, just write down all this information on a sheet of paper and lock it up in a safety vault, or keep it in a place that is safe and recognizable only to you.

Then it our our intrams at school lots of activities to be done to to accomplish.. and it was our goal again to be the over all champion and if this happens the will be the 4th time that our batch make it again but the question is…. still we are the champion of this intrams 2008???

But before anything else SENPAI means SENIORS as 4th year studies we are the role model of the juniors, sophomores, and freshmen…

Our team since 1st year got the champion in cheerdance competition, volleyball both men and women division and and basketball. Out team did a hard time to get this prizes…

this years intramurals is the most unique one because it includes LARO ng LAHI or games that originally in the Philippines like Patentero, Labo-Labo, Kadang-kadang and a lot more…

But this year it wasn’t our luck anymore… the over all champion was on in our title anymore.. the sophomores gets the overall champion and they also get the champion in the cheerdance competition and the Juniors got the champion in basketball mens division..

Eventhough it we did not get the tittle but still in our hearts we are still the champion..

here are the pictures during our cheerdance competition and basketball womens division
